6 Things To Do When You Go To Sweden

Your Safari in East Africa is Incomplete if You Miss This

Reptiles constitute a diverse class of vertebrates .There are four main group of living reptiles; snakes, lizards, chelonians (tortoise, terrapins, and turtles) and Crocodiles. Less well known are the tuataras, order Rhynchocephalia, two primitive lizards like New Zealand reptiles and the amphisbaenids or warm lizards.

The five countries of East Africa (Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Burundi) have a diverse landscape. The altitude changes from sea level to snow-capped mountains over 6000 m, the vegetation varies from true desert to rain forest. Such variation is unusual in tropical Africa; the reasons for this diversity are two folds. Firstly the presence of major cracks ,due to plate movement in the Earth’s crust underlying East Africa, which have created landscapes of long hills and mountains ranges, large volcanic and block faulted mountains, deep broad valleys with large lakes ,and extensive high plateau.

Secondly, much of equatorial east Africa is relatively dry, what forest exist, mostly in the west, are small, largely on isolated uplands high enough to attract rainfall. Reptiles occurs throughout this landscape, being absent only from areas above the snowline. The East African Reptile fauna includes animals typical of desert, savanna, forest and mountains. However the number of species and individuals varies

A Grand Canyon Winter Holiday – Things to Do

Plan a Grand Canyon Winter Holiday for the whole family, and look forward to an exciting, memorable adventure with something for everyone. Share the thrill of seeing one of the world’s great natural wonders, and create holiday memories to last a lifetime.

Winter requires a little extra pre-planning for comfort and safety. If you go for a jaw-dropping Grand Canyon tour by air, pack appropriate layers of waterproof, warm clothing for very cold outdoor activities, and include gloves, long underwear, hats, and sturdy, thick-soled hiking boots. Colder temperatures and lack of access to certain areas limit some activities, but fewer visitors in winter mean you’ll have some areas of the park all to yourselves.

Here are selected highlights of things to do and know when planning your winter trip to this fascinating place.

Special Events and Activities

  • The holiday season brings out the child in all of us, and if you’re taking the kids to Grand Canyon, there are lots of special activities tied to holiday celebrating. Visit the El Tovar Hotel for beautiful holiday decorations in a historic building (see below for more on staying at this lodge).
  • It’s hard to imagine a more heartwarming holiday treat than riding the “Polar Express” train, offered

Tips to Select a Proper Char Dham Tour Operator

When you are planning to go on a char dham yatra, the very first step is to locate a travel agent who can help you by providing options for char dham yatra packages at affordable rates. Online travel agencies make the job easier as it is more convenient and faster to book tickets via the Internet. You can get everything done in just a few clicks. However, you need to be careful while look at char dham tour operators or else you might end up selecting a package that is overpriced. Promos and discounts might sound good, but you should thoroughly analyze and calculate in order to check if you are actually benefitting from the deal or not.

Here are a few points to keep in mind while looking for a char dham yatra tour agency:

  • Talk to a friend, colleague, family member – whoever has experience in booking char dham packages online. Ask them to recommend agencies for you as this is a better and safer approach rather than using an agency you found after reading reviews online.
  • You will be performing a monetary transaction here, which makes it all the more necessary

Temperatures at the Grand Canyon during Different Times of the Year

Temperatures at the Grand Canyon during Different Times of the Year

People tend to misjudge the weather at the Grand Canyon when they are planning their visit to this national park and natural wonder. The Grand Canyon is located in Northwest Arizona, almost due east of Las Vegas. They typically assume the weather is going to be sunny and warm year round. However, that is not the case. The weather and temperatures at the Grand Canyon are seasonal and vary depending upon where you are visiting within the national park.

Keep in mind that the South Rim is about 7,000 feet above sea level, and the North Rim is almost 9,000 feet above sea level. The Rocky Mountains in Colorado have numerous peaks all over 13,000 feet above sea level. If you have ever visited Colorado, you know as you increase elevation, the temperature starts to drop gradually. The same is true at the Grand Canyon. Temperatures at either Rim are cooler than the bottom of the Canyon.

Temperatures change about 3 to 4 degrees Fahrenheit every thousand feet. For instance, if you are descending into the Canyon, temperatures will start to increase. Expect temperatures

Ways of Getting the Cheapest Flight

Over 100 years ago, when the Wright Brothers flew their first operational aircraft, they would never have thought that air travel could grow to such an extent as in contemporary times. Today, air travel is the part and parcel of everyday life. Whether it is vacation time or business travel, people opt for flights more than any other means of transport. This is resulting in increased traffic on different routes, especially in the domestic market. Nowadays, passengers may find it difficult to get flight availability and also struggle to check different options related to the cheapest flight available. Therefore, it is quite evident that knowing different methods of paying low airfares can be beneficial for every passenger.

The Right Time to Buy

Among the hardest steps of buying an air ticket is deciding when to stop checking the different fares and clicking the final check-out button. There are many online travel agencies (OTAs) that can help users gain access to different deals and offers to help them in booking the cheapest flight available. Checking various fare predictions online is one of the oldest tricks in the book for finding lower rates. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are the less-travelled days of the

How to Make International Student Flights Suck Less

As an American student studying abroad in Australia, I need to be able to handle those 16-hour flights like Beyoncé (minus the private jet). I’ve had my fair share of long flights, so I’ve had plenty of chances to figure out what works and what definitely does NOT (floppy hats are a no-go). Here are my tips to breeze through long flights.

1.) Dress for success. By “success” I mean comfort. Wear clothing that isn’t restrictive so you can lounge. Tight socks, pants, tank tops, etc. can reduce blood flow and cause discomfort after a few hours in the air. It may seem like a good idea to dress fashionably and impress all the strangers in the airport. Good luck with that. When you’re five hours into your ten-hour flight, no one will be looking at your outfit. They will be too busy ugly-crying to The Fault in Our Stars while devouring their third snack box. Honestly, just wear the damn fuzzy socks.

2.) Feel good, look good. Stock your carry-on with some essentials to help you look and feel less terrible. This includes:

  • Eye drops
  • Makeup remover wipes
  • Hand wipes (because ewh germs)
  • Face/hand lotion
  • Chapstick
  • Dry shampoo
  • Deodorant
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste

*Remember, all liquids must

Places to Visit Before They Disappear

As you review your bucket list, there are certain places you may want to prioritize visiting as rising sea levels, earthquakes, floods, global warming and other natural phenomenon affect different cities and tourist attractions around the world.

This article outlines 10 popular tourist locations that are at-risk from the affects of Mother Nature.

The city of water had been one of the most visited cities in Europe. Connected by canals and bridges, it’s a place like no other that will induce wonder into your heart. However, this beautiful city is facing threats from the rising sea level. Already actively pumping water out to stay ‘afloat’, there is no telling what the future holds for this magnificent UNESCO world heritage site. Unfortunately, this is a geological phenomenon, with Venice being dragged down as the tectonic plate it resides on is subducting.

Another victim of rising sea level, a large part of the Netherlands is actually below sea level already! This is also due to urbanization, which causes the cities to subsidize at the same time, making flooding an additional risk. Large scale coastal protection plans are currently being implemented,

The Pros and Cons of Semester at Sea

Semester at Sea is arguably the most comprehensive study abroad program available to students today. The nonstop travel from country to country and constant exposure to new cultures is both daunting and exhilarating. Whether you’re already a seasoned traveler or have never ventured outside of the United States, this program is guaranteed to test your limits and leave you more competent and confident than you were before. That being said, the program certainly comes with its ups and downs, and I’ve put together a list of the pros and cons of Semester at Sea:

1. You get a little taste of everything. Unlike other study abroad programs which are usually stationed in one city, Semester at Sea gives you the chance to see over a dozen countries (15 countries, in the case of my Fall 2014 voyage). Upon my first look at the itinerary, I didn’t think four days in Barcelona or five in Havana, Cuba would be nearly enough. But as the voyage went on, I realized that these short visits were just right. I was able to get a feel for the local culture, experience the city and determine if it was a place I’d like

The 16 Things I Didnt Expect As An International Student Coming to the US

As you start the journey of moving completely out of your comfort zone to a new country, be ready for surprises: both good and unexpected. This article will help prepare you for some of the unexpected ones and ease the transition.

When I packed my bags and made the decision to come to the US to study, I was expecting culture shock, a lot of it. No matter how much research I did on the culture, the day I got here, it surely was a shock. A good one, nonetheless. I’ve heard that culture shock has four phases: the honeymoon phase where all one can feel is euphoria, the frustration phase where all the good surprises start to wear out, followed by adjustment and ultimately an acceptance of the culture.

Here are a few revelations you will have when you first arrive in the US:

  1. Food portions are the size of Titanic, no kidding. When you order your first meal at a Cheesecake Factory, you will feel like you have been missing out on all the meals you ate before that point. While portion sizes are big, the economical thing to do is get
